Focus of our research

As part of our focal fields of study, we carry out cutting-edge research in two areas of major relevance to society.

Due to its research, the University of St.Gallen achieves a high level of added value for society and is internationally acclaimed as such. We carry out research as part of focal fields of study (FSP-HSG).

Since 2006, the HSG has been carrying out research on “Work, Ageing and Welfare” and “Wealth and Risk”. As a result, we have maintained a high profile in the international competition for the most talented people.

Work, Ageing and Welfare
The research focus looks at the causes and dimensions of social welfare. At centre stage are the consequences of an ageing population for working life and the labour market, for the healthcare system, as well as for unpaid activities such as voluntary work and housework.

Wealth and Risk
This focal field bundles the existing HSG-research activities in financing, banking and the insurance business in the specially created “Center for Finance” and focuses its research on key topics like “wealth building” and “risk management”.
