From Rise
RISE Management Research is an association, which enables and conducts management research. Joining RISE Management Research requires an in-depth involvement in our research activities (Research Activities, Research Focus), as Company Members or Individual Members, or through research collaborations as Research Partners. RISE Management Research is innovative in explicitly and proactively involving entrepreneurs and managers, as well as their companies and corporations in its research activities through research projects and two types of memberships:
Bilateral research projects are concerned with the in-depth analysis of particular research questions within a single company or a group of companies. RISE is primarily interested in research projects with companies that are active in one of its focus industries (Empirical Focus). A firm-specific research agenda and research based deliverables and milestones are defined together with the company partner. We provide research based in-depth analysis, presentation of intermediate and final results, discussion and feedback. A bilateral research project requires financial engagement and personal involvement of experienced executives and senior managers of the company partner. The research activities are conducted by senior researchers and PhD candidates. Fees may vary depending on the scope of the project.
Company membership requires that a company has been or is actively involved in a research project with RISE Management Research. Company membership includes access to research workshops (Company Workshops, Paper Colloquia), personal exchange with the academic director and managing director of RISE Management Research (Research Team), the involvement in special events (Events) and lectures at the University of St. Gallen (Lectures), an active role in the development of the RISE research agenda (Research Focus, Empirical Focus), and the involvement in joint publication projects.
Individual membership requires that a person has been or is actively involved in a theoretical and empirical research project of RISE Management Research (usually in the form of a PhD program). Individual membership allows former researchers to remain involved in the research activities, community building, publication projects and teaching formats of RISE Management Research, thereby participating in the same activities, in which the company members are involved (see above).
PhD program in the context of RISE Management Research requires the formal acceptance as a PhD student at the University of St. Gallen (http://www.studium.unisg.ch/org/lehre/ds.nsf/wwwPubInhalteGer/Betriebswirtschaftliches+Programm?opendocument). It requires a strong interest in our research areas (Research Focus, References) and our empirical contexts (Empirical Focus), as well as in developing a research project in close collaboration with experienced entrepreneurs and managers, as well as in intense interactions with relevant researchers and the international scientific community.
