RISE MANAGEMENT RESEARCH: Studying Entrepreneurial Executive Management

RISE Management Research (RISE) is a research center at the University of St.Gallen HSG. RISE represents an association of researchers, entrepreneurs and senior managers creating a research platform for the study of entrepreneurial executive management in the context of technological innovation, business creation and company development "at the edge". RISE explicitly focuses on management research, based on the premise of in-depth, scientific description, interpretation and explanation of important phenomena and open issues, and provides relevant insights, robust knowledge and new perspectives for experienced entrepreneurial executives, researchers and students.

RISE Management Research addresses these topics through an ongoing, disciplined discourse among a community of senior researcher and experienced executives (Community) from entrepreneurial companies and established corporations. RISE creates and advances a robust body of scientific knowledge on the successful entrepreneurial executive management in the context of technological innovation, particularly in the empirical fields of software engineering / IT / artificial intelligence, pharma / chemical industries / life sciences, and fasion / textiles / creative industries.

From an activity perspective, RISE Management Research generates, reflects, publishes, translates and teaches new, robust and unconventional perspectives on the challenges of entrepreneurial executives. RISE consolidates such knowledge and new perspectives into an empirically grounded, practically relevant, and scientifically new management philosophy. RISE Management Research has established different research formats such as company workshops, bilateral research projects, or research paper colloquia for the discussion of publication projects, current management literature and related fields of the social sciences. RISE further provides unconventional (executive) teaching formats, as well as public events like lectures or symposia as part of its activities (Events (http://www.rise.ch/blog/index.php?cat=2), Lectures (http://studynet.unisg.ch/lms-lmm/firstPermitted.do?ignoreTimeout=true)) to share and further develop its insights with a broader audience.

RISE Management Research creates value for corporations, which develop their collective agency at the edge through joint knowledge production; for entrepreneurial executives, who see the importance of reflecting and challenging their strategic thinking and acting; for academia, which is willing to develop new perspectives and precise empirical observations; for the university, which drives management innovation in collaboration with executives and students; for the broader public with a serious interest in understanding the value creation of management.
